He commissioned architect Hugh Vallance, who also built the Point-Claire Post Office, to build the house. The architecture is inspired by the “Four Square’”model of the American architect Frank Kidder, very popular at the beginning of the XXth century. This summerhouse features a cubic shape, the façade extended by a covered gallery, symmetrically placed window openings and a large dormer on the front of the pavilion roof. “Four Square” architecture pertains to a period of architectural renewal; houses are spacious, easy to build and lend themselves well to any type of ornamentation or decorative detail.
