Plaque text and image (if available): This house, called “Les Planes”, was built in 1883 for Napoléon Charbonneau, a lawyer and one of the Queen’s Advisors. Its architectural style is inspired mainly by Neo Gothic villas, very sought after at the end of the XIXth century by families who wanted a summer home. The exterior décor features clapboard siding, lattice adorning the cornice and a bay window. The roof is adorned with decorative finials. In the XXth century, the house belonged to M. Rougier, an import distributor of church bells. In 1915, he bequeathed it to Louis Seméteys, his nephew by marriage. In 1939, his son Maurice had the house insulated and added the rear section of the house. At one time, the garden featured a wind generator that pumped potable water into large reservoirs installed in the attic.
