Description: This building, erected in 1937, was designed by architect Hugh Vallance. Its steeply pitched pavilion style roof and massive turret are inspired by the Château style of architecture featured in many older federal and military buildings.
Plaque text and image (if available): Postal service was originally provided by Émile Legault’s general store in the village. Growing demand finally made it necessary to build a post office. After several proposals were rejected, architect Hugh Vallance’s plans were approved and the building was erected in 1937. Its steeply pitched pavilion-style roof and massive turret are inspired by the Château style of architecture featured in many federal and military buildings of the time.
